1. Study Objectives and Method

○ Gaining momentum and setting direction for promoting the Special Tourist Zone: We aim to gain momentum for the continuous promotion of the Special Tourist Zone by preemptively preparing for the increase of domestic and foreign tourists in the post-pandemic era and establishing a long-term plan.

○ Strengthening competitiveness in the tourism industry through tourist programs and the development of new tourist content: We aim to explore tasks commensurate with latest tourism trends and tourism policy and to find ways to promote the Special Tourist Zone by analyzing its current status, diagnosing problems, reviewing existing promotion plans, and conducting interviews.

2. Conclusion and Policy Suggestion

○ The vision of revitalizing the Jeollabuk-do Special Tourist Zone is “Enjoy Together, Happy Together, Jeonbuk Special Tourist Zone!”

 - The visions of cities and counties for the Special Tourist Zone will follow the Jeollabuk-do Special Tourist Zone Revitalization Plan. The vision of the Naejangsan Special Tourist Zone is “Trails to four-season ecological civilization; the Naejangsan Special Tourist Zone is open to the world.” The vision of the Gucheondong Special Tourist Zone is “9,000 touching experiences, the Gucheondong Special Tourist Zone.”

○ The Jeollabuk-do Special Tourist Zone has set three goals: “Safe, clean special tourist zone,” “Special tourist zone for maximum recreation and healing,” and “Special tourist zone ideal for long-term stays.”

 - Amid the COVID-19 pandemic, tourists do not look for bustling tourist attractions; rather, they seek places for resting and healing. Jeollabuk-do’s two special tourist zones are located in national parks, meeting the conditions for safe, clean, and ideal locations for recreation and healing.

As local extinction is taking place due to population decline, Jeollabuk-do’s Special Tourist Zone revitalization policy aims to build “Special Tourist Zones for long-term stays.”
